The America I Believe In...

March is turning out to be a busy month for the Peace Alliance in Northern Utah. I have had the opportunity to hook up with the Amnesty International Student Org. at Weber State University. AI is gearing up for their "The America I Believe In" week on campus. Students stopped by our info tables to find out what the Dept of Peace is and to finish the sentence "The America I Believe In... Many students had some very thoughtful things to say, such as "The America I believe in...believes in me." These America I Believe in signs will be put up all over campus as part of the week long festivities.
AI has been great to include The Peace Alliance in their week long event. Our youth coordinator Ashley Andersen and I will be participating in a Dept of Peace panel on Monday March 26th at noon in the student services building room 141. Other Dept of Peace/Amnesty International activities this month include the film "I Know I'm Not Alone" by Michael Franti (musician who traveled to Iraq - fantastic documentary) Monday, March 26th 7 pm UB 417 - and "Jamnesty" Poetry Jam at Mojo's Caffe 2210 Washington Blvd - Wednesday, March 28th 6-8 pm- please bring original poetry OR something you like that's human rights related OR your music OR just come and listen :) Also, the presentation of the play Aristophanes' "Peace" (which is "loosely"Greek for "give peace a chance") is on Sunday, April 1 at 2:00 at the Universe City Gallery, 2556 Washington Blvd. Ogden UT. Dept. of Peace info will be available at all of these events.
Join The Peace Alliance and Amnesty International during March and make a difference in your world, see you there.
